Chapter
22—Love as purpose and means
So, every occasion we have to learn the joy and satisfaction
of selfless loving, is a fruitful endeavor. It may seem that
friendships and romantic relationships are lost or wasted time
and effort. Try not to see them that way. We surely don’t
need to crowd our lives with countless relationships in a quest
for Love’s ultimate (God’s own Love which is already
and steadily loving us), but we can recognize the experiences
that do come to us as practice. They are worthwhile (whether
they continue or not) in the fact that we are learning more
of how to love and be loved. Take a different perspective on
your past by acknowledging that you are, just as a musician
is, naturally and progressively getting better at doing what
you were made to do.
